EAE Barcelona, part of the Planeta Formación y Universidades higher education network, and Tech Barcelona recently hosted the second edition of Petit Comitech, a series of breakfast event that brings together business leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals from the technology ecosystem to share experiences and discuss the trends transforming the business world.

This edition featured Oriol Vila, co-founder of Holaluz and BlaBlaNote, who shared insights from his entrepreneurial journey and reflected on the role of networking, artificial intelligence and lifelong learning in the creation and growth of new ventures.

Purposeful networking as a competitive advantage

One of the main themes of the discussion was the value of human relationships in professional development. Vila argued that "the quality of human relationships is one of the factors most closely correlated with success", advocating purposeful, proactive networking built on trust, generosity and the development of long-term relationships.

According to Vila, building a strong professional network means defining clear objectives, creating value without expecting an immediate return and making conscious decisions about who to invest your time in and collaborate with. He concluded by reminding attendees that "the best connections are not on LinkedIn, but face to face."

Entrepreneurship in the age of artificial intelligence

In the session, Vila also shared some of the lessons he has learned from building one of Spain's best-known scaleups and launching a new venture centred on artificial intelligence. In this context, he emphasized that "past success is no guarantee of future success", highlighting the importance of lifelong learning, resilience and adaptability in responding to changing market conditions.

He also encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs not to build their businesses alone, but to rely on teams and collaborators who can contribute expertise, different perspectives and support throughout the entrepreneurial journey.

Through initiatives such as Petit Comitech, EAE Barcelona and Tech Barcelona continue to create opportunities for business leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals to exchange knowledge and experiences on innovation, entrepreneurship and professional development.
