Publicado: | Actualizado:

Within the field of economics, programs specifically focused on business administration (ADE) are undoubtedly among the most popular courses for students. This is mainly because a degree in ADE allows access to the best opportunities in terms of career prospects, advancement, and salary. But what exactly are the career paths for a student specialized in business administration?

What is an ADE degree?

The Business Administration (ADE) degree is designed to deepen, study, and improve administrative and management techniques within companies. Students in an ADE program learn to gather and process economic information about a specific business activity and the business function that manages it. In this way, they also learn to use this data to design and plan new managerial strategies.

According to the Infoempleo Adecco Report, Business Administration and Management studies continue to be a degree with excellent employment opportunities. In fact, 4.5% of job offers are specifically for this qualification, and its graduates can apply for 10.70% of positions requiring a university degree. Additionally, 82% of ADE graduates find employment related to their studies within two years of graduating.

Upon completing an ADE program, students will have built the foundation necessary to start a successful career in nearly any industry or sector, as administration is a function present and needed in any organization. But specifically, what career opportunities exist in ADE? The administrative sector encompasses company management activities from both organizational and economic perspectives, bringing together various professionals.

ADE offers many career opportunities

The career opportunities in ADE are very diverse, but the main options can be grouped into four major areas:

  • as an independent professional performing the roles of manager and accounting expert;
  • in companies and firms specializing in auditing and business consulting;
  • in industrial, commercial, and service companies;
  • in banking institutions.

Some of the main professional roles ADE graduates can take on include:

  • Manager: primarily responsible for the financial and tax management of companies, professional offices, and freelancers.
  • Accountant: handles the preparation and management of accounting, tax, and work records for companies and organizations.
  • Auditor: verifies the accuracy and truthfulness of financial statements for corporations, public agencies, organizations, etc.
  • Tax specialist: manages tax operations on behalf of clients to ensure compliance with obligations and avoid penalties.
  • Bank employee: tasks range from front office activities, such as customer interaction at the counter, to back office responsibilities, including document handling, internal communication, and filing.

Highest-paying career paths in ADE

Given the nature of the subjects taught, many ADE graduates choose to pursue master’s degrees to gain advanced training that allows them to reach executive positions. Among the best educational options for this goal are the Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management (BBA) or the Bachelor Degree in Business Administration & Management.

Following this path can lead to various managerial roles and, consequently, higher salaries. Among the highest-paying ADE professional positions are:

  • Market analyst
  • Market consultant
  • Chief financial officer
  • Financial manager
  • Human Resources manager

ADE career paths and salary

The broad range of professional opportunities offered by this field makes it impossible to define a single salary horizon. However, mastery of administrative processes, including accounting, finance, and management, along with deep knowledge of the economic, institutional, and legal context in which decisions are made, constitutes a highly sought-after set of skills in the job market.

Therefore, obtaining an ADE degree offers the opportunity to quickly find stable employment with promising professional and salary growth. In fact, an ADE specialist can aspire to positions of responsibility, with salaries ranging from €36,000 to €40,000, or even €50,000 per year, depending on the position held. For example, a professional in the banking sector can earn an average of up to €60,000, excluding bonuses.

According to Glassdoor, the average salary for a Commercial Manager in Spain is €33,389 per year, but this can vary widely depending on whether the professional owns their own practice or is an employee, as well as the client portfolio they manage. In general, salary levels for ADE career paths largely depend on the type of company, its sector, and its size. In large corporations, annual salaries are often above €50,000, and can sometimes even double.

It is clear that the profile of an ADE graduate is very broad, which explains high employability and salary variability. In any case, pursuing this degree ensures continuous professional growth and the opportunity to remain competitive in the labor market through ongoing training.
