The presentation of the annual joint research study "Digital Talent Through a Gender Lens", produced by EAE Barcelona and Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCapital), brought together some of Catalonia's leading media organizations at an event that highlighted the growing interest in female talent in technology professions.
Held at the EAE Barcelona campus, the event was attended by journalists from La Vanguardia and El Periódico, two of Catalonia's top news outlets, as well as Agencia EFE and Corresponsables, a leading publication specializing in sustainability, ESG and corporate social responsibility.
A report on the challenges facing female talent in the technology sector
Developed by the research teams at EAE Barcelona and MWCapital, the special-focus report analyses the main barriers limiting women's participation in technology professions, from stereotypes that persist throughout the education system to occupational segregation and the "glass ceiling" preventing women from reaching leadership positions.
Among its key findings, the study reveals that women account for just 19.5% of ICT specialists in the European Union, highlighting the need for coordinated action across the education, business and institutional sectors to reduce the gender gap in the industry.
The strong media presence and coverage generated by the event reinforce the growing interest in this research and strengthen the collaboration between EAE Barcelona and Mobile World Capital Barcelona in generating knowledge on diversity, innovation and leadership.
Key examples of the media coverage include:
- La Vanguardia: “Las mujeres solo representan el 32% del empleo digital de Barcelona”
- El Periódico: “Solo un30% de los profesionales de la IA son mujeres en Barcelona”
- Europa Press: “Presentación del Monográfico anual de investigación conjunta de EAE Business School Barcelona y Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCapital)”
