EAE Business School Barcelona has 66.6% female representation on its Executive Committee. Eight of the twelve members who make up the school’s highest decision-making body are women, a proportion that far exceeds the average figures for corporate and academic leadership in Spain.

According to the latest Women in Business report by Grant Thornton, the presence of women in senior management positions in Spain stands at just 38.4%, although in Catalonia it reaches 44.2%, the highest rate in the country. In the university sector, the latest data from the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) show that female representation in the most senior university leadership roles, such as rectors and full professors, barely reaches 25%.

Based on these figures, the proportion recorded at the school is more than 20 points above the corporate average and far exceeds the presence of women in leadership positions within the university system.

“Our goal is for access to positions of responsibility to be based on professional criteria and merit, as real equality is consolidated when the data show that talent progresses without gender barriers,” explains Marta Morcillo, General Manager of EAE Business School Barcelona.

WOMAN INITIATIVE

This approach also extends to other initiatives promoted by the school aimed at fostering female leadership in the business and entrepreneurial spheres. Among them is Woman Initiative, a cross-cutting platform that brings together activities in research, training, mentoring, impact, and connections with the business community.

One of its flagship initiatives is the EAE Top 10 Women Entrepreneurs of Catalonia ranking, which this year celebrates its fourth edition and recognizes founders with innovative projects that generate economic and social impact. Since this year, the initiative has been carried out in collaboration with Barcelona Activa, the economic development agency of the Barcelona City Council. The winners of this edition were recognized at a special event at 4YFN, within the framework of Mobile World Congress 2026.

Through these programs, the institution aims to strengthen the visibility of female talent and create spaces that support professional development and networking.

“Promoting female leadership requires action at different levels: governance, training, and entrepreneurship, in order to build a strong ecosystem that ensures the visibility of female talent is sustainable over time. Only then will we achieve real impact,” concludes Morcillo
