EAE Business School creates a ranking of the top 10 female entrepreneurs in Catalonia

  • Susana Castel, Co-Founder and CEO of FrontWave Imaging, a 3D imaging software that transforms the detection, screening and monitoring of breast cancer heads EAE’s Top 10 ranking of female entrepreneurs in Catalonia.
  • The finalists were chosen by organizations that promote innovation and entrepreneurship at a governmental and association level, specialist press and experts at EAE Business School Barcelona.
  • An award ceremony will be held on the 22nd November in the EAE Barcelona’s Ágora Hall to present the accolade to the 10 finalists.

Wednesday 16th November 2022 – As an initiative of the new Diversity and Gender Commission, within the framework of the School’s Sustainability Plan and the Women Initiative, EAE Business School Barcelona had organized the EAE Top 10 Female Entrepreneurs in Catalonia ranking to raise the visibility of and empower entrepreneurial ventures headed by women in the Catalan region.

A total of 25 projects were evaluated by a jury of 43 people, including professionals from Acció/Gencat, Barcelona Activa and the Barcelona City Council, as well as from companies, associations in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, consultants, mentors, investors, influencers, specialist journalists and experts at EAE Business School Barcelona.

The following list gives an overview of the top 10 female entrepreneurs in Catalonia as ranked by EAE Business School Barcelona, which forms part of  Planeta Formación y Universidades, Grupo Planeta’s international higher education network:

1. Susana Castel – Co-Founder and CEO of FrontWave Imaging

An integral 3D imaging software solution that transforms the detection, screening and monitoring of breast cancer.

2.  Gemma Fàbregas – Co-Founder and CEO of Diversity Apps and Marie Anne Aimée, Co-Founder and Director of the Socio-educational area Diversity Apps 

With the application “Yo también leo” (“I read too”), developed on an inclusive education platform that takes people’s diversity into account.

3. María Jesús Salido – CEO and Co-Founder of SocialDiabetes

A digital solution that improves the quality of life of people with diabetes and patient management for healthcare professionals. 

4. Bárbara Buades – Co-Founder & CEO of Meetoptics

This project’s mission is to make photonics more accessible, helping thousands of engineers and researchers find the optics and photonics they need.

5.  María Berruezo and Alba Padró – Co-Founders of Lactapp
The leading breastfeeding and maternity application in Spain, consulted 120,000 times a week. It is used by 24% of mothers who have recently given birth. 

6. Patricia Aymà – Founder, Executive President and CTO of Venvirotech and Noelia Márquez, Co-Founder and CEO of Venvirotech

Biotechnological startup specializing in the transformation of organic waste into biodegradable bioplastics. 

7. Celina Tamagnini – Co-Founder & Business Development aof Circoolar
The first-ever company specializing in workwear made from recycled fabrics and designed to be easily reused, as well as generating a social impact through their manufacture in workshops that promote social inclusion and female empowerment. It is the first workwear company in Spain to be awarded the B Corp certification.

8. Sana Khouja – CEO and Founder of Zeena

High-quality wine in 100% recycled and recyclable cans. An organic, vegan grenache from the Terra Alta region. 

9. Alba Garcia and Anna Cañadell, Co-Founders and Co-CEOs of Bcome

A platform for global sustainability management that transforms the fashion industry through more responsible supply chains.

10. Diana Ballart – CEO and Co-Founder of The Smart Lollipop
A non-intrusive medical device in the shape of a lollipop that can detect diseases with a single sample of saliva, giving the diagnostic results within a minute on an online platform. 

Within the framework of Women's Entrepreneurship month, on 22nd November, EAE Business School Barcelona will hold the award ceremony in its Ágora Hall to present the accolade to the 10 finalists, with an audience including the jury, students on the Master in Entrepreneurship, staff members, lecturers and directors of the School.
